Merry Christmas!

Updated: Jan 30, 2021

Elbert Hubbard
I wish to live without hate, whim, jealousy, envy, and fear. I wish to be simple, honest, frank, natural—to face any obstacle and meet every difficulty unabashed and unafraid.

I had a long wordy message, filled with political opinions and arguments, prepared for my first real blog entry. However, considering the time of year and the year we are experiencing, I decide this week was more of a time to be thankful. To be meditative. To be considerate. It’s Christmas and that is something that no one can take from us.

This is a time when we need to strengthen our spirit. It’s a time to love one another. It’s a time of peace. Many people are struggling to find something to smile about. There’s a shortage of humor. There is a lack of trust amongst neighbors. There’s a shadow hanging over this holiday season and it has to be us, those that truly want peace both in our hearts and on our earth, that help to shine a light through that darkness. We need to be the smile that your neighbor can’t produce. We need to show our faith in humanity even while faith seems to have vanished for so many. We need to show grace and mercy to those who are in need. We need to be the ones that provide love, because there is far too much hate in the hearts of those that take issue with our existence.

I’m not writing this as a Christian or moral authority. The only thing I am an authority on, is the sixty plus years of life I’ve lived. Sixty plus years of fun, toil, struggle, peace, scarcity, abundance, desolation and love. Sixty plus years of being a normal human being on planet earth. And over those years my experiences have shown me that in every situation, faith must conquer fear. Christmas is a time of faith.

For several years I have tried to find the ambition and self guidance to start this blog. Like so many of us, I have felt hopeless in the face of this onslaught of negativity on America and on the human existence as a whole. Finally, with the help of my lovely wife and a few hundred bucks to my very dear friends at Google(sarcasm-the process is blog worthy in itself, and you don’t realize you’re giving money to the thieves at Google until you’re already invested) I got my blog started. I’m sure it is not a coincidence (thank you Lord) that the holiday season was upon us when I decided to write in earnest.

I needed Christmas to remind me that I can’t fight hate with anger. Baby Jesus was born on this day bringing us hope and peace and love. He lived a life of grace and humility. He taught us compassion, forgiveness, patience, gentleness and faith. All of these virtues are of the greatest importance to humanity. None of these virtues should be forgotten on December 26th. No matter how much I disagree with the leftist movement I must not allow them to interfere with my faith. God bless us all and have a very Merry Christmas.
